Sun simulator light

The sun has been rising in LUNA since 3 June. So far, it is only a relatively primitive installation: a powerful film spotlight on a tripod has been rented for the coming months before the much more complex sun simulator is designed and constructed and can be installed. At the moment, the spotlight simulates a low sun as it would be seen at the lunar poles. Since the lunar south pole is planned as the primary landing site for the first Artemis missions, such a light scenario seems ideal for the first campaigns in LUNA, which are scheduled to start immediately after the inauguration in September.

The requirements review for the future solar simulator was carried out at almost the same time, which is a formal review of the requirements that the future simulator should fulfil – an important milestone in the development of this central LUNA subsystem.
