LUNA Workshop at IAC
The International Astronautical Congress (IAC) is one of the world’s largest space conferences. Here, contracts are signed, scientific results are introduced to experts and strategic plans of the space agencies are communicated. In the last few years, we have only been able to present ideas, concepts and rendered images of LUNA – this year, the opening of the facility was announced and the opportunity was taken to present LUNA in one of the technical sessions (‘Moon Exploration Part 2’) and to gather future users for a LUNA workshop:
After a presentation of functionalities and elements of LUNA, two interested parties, Blue Origin and an Australian company, presented their lunar surface concepts. All participants then had the opportunity to give input to the LUNA team on various issues at three stations. The feedback from the 50 or so participants in the four-hour workshop on the new system was consistently positive.’
