LUNA on the Space Day 2025
Among other interesting developments in space research and technology, LUNA was also an important part of the Space Day 2025 on 28 March 2025 in Cologne: The Analogue Facility was presented on several talks on the main stage and in the lecture rooms, and impressive images from the first campaigns were shown. LUNA even won the “Space Slam” competition and was present in the exhibition area with a virtual reality tour through the hall as well as with various artefacts.
The regolith simulator was a particular attraction for the more than 2,000 schoolchildren in the morning and the 3,000 visitors in the afternoon. Here, you could “experience” what it would feel like to touch the surface of the moon – and how dirty your fingers would be afterwards.
The Mayor of Cologne, Henriette Reker, also got her hands dirty on the “moon” and was enthusiastic about the facility.
The Space Day 2025 took place at XPost Cologne. The German Aerospace Centre (DLR), together with the European Space Agency (ESA), offered insights into the fascination of space research and space technology.
