LUNA Dust Lab Completed

We are happy to report that the development of the LUNA Dust Lab has largely been completed, with the successful emplacement of 20t of anorthositic material provided to us bespoke from Greenland by the company LUMINA. This completes the main feature of the dust lab, which has been envisioned as a room where extremely dusty material can be agitated and equipment or operations subjected to this environment.

Going forward we will work on adding equipment testing capabilities to the room, but are also interested to hear from the community on other use cases.

Thanks to our colleagues in VULCAN, at the ESA ECSAT site, we also prepared a comprehensive paper on many aspects of the EAC-1 and LUMINA material, which you can read here: Frontiers | The Luna Analog Facility testbeds (ESA, EAC): contemporary characterization work of highland (lunar) and mare (EAC-1) lunar regolith simulants.
