Engineering on the Upside Down

Is it a bird? Is it a UFO? Is it a very ambitious ceiling fan? Meet the Puppeteer – LUNA’s newest ceiling-dwelling marvel.

What you’re looking at is the pre-production model of our Gravity-Offloading System, now entering its test phase before deployment at LUNA. Designed to simulate reduced gravity environments — like that on the Moon – this sleek omnidirectional platform zips smoothly along the ceiling, carrying payloads and astronauts with the kind of grace you’d expect from a robot ballerina with a physics degree.

Coming to LUNA in September 2025, this system will help us verify that our design can handle the real stresses of lunar analogue operations – both technically and theatrically. It’s a vital milestone on the road to simulating Moon missions here on Earth. And it also just looks cool.

Gravity? Optional. Curiosity? Encouraged. Fun? Mandatory.
